How to Recover Files from USB Flash Drive?

Preparations: Start with downloading and installing the iSkysoft Data Recovery Tool form the official website. Although it doesn’t guarantee you the recovery of all the files, it’s always a hit or miss.

Step 1 At first, you need to take the USB Flash Drive and connect it to your PC, connect it directly if it has a compatible connecting port, or use an authentic USB cable. Once connected, press the “Window + R” keys together on your Computer’s keyboard, it will open a pop-up window of Run program on your Windows.

Step 2 Write “cmd” in the popup window that appeared, and then click “OK”. Once you click Ok, you will be directed to the Command centre of the Windows, you will see a Command prompt window.

Step 3 Once you are in the Command prompt window, give the command “#: /f” (# needs to be replaced with the name of your USB drive in PC, i.e. USB “C”, “D”, etc.). Once the previous command is given, type “Y” and click Enter.

Step 4. Now, again type # and press Enter (# needs to be replaced with the name of USB Flash Drive). Let the previous command process, and lastly, give the command “#:>attribc -h -r -s /s /d *.*” and click Enter to proceed. (Replace the # with the name of your USB Flash Drive on PC). Let all the commands process.

Once all the commands are processed, you will see that all of your lost files from Flash Drive will be back in a separate folder on your PC. The restored files will be in a different format, you will need to change their extension back to normal to make those files usable again.

Solution 3. Try to Recover from Previous Versions of Folders

Here’s another way that you can try to recover files from USB Flash Drive. You can try to recover the previous versions of the files or folders that got deleted. Although the methods don’t work all the time, the times it works, it really helps you in recovering deleted files.

Step 1 At first, you need to take the USB Flash Drive and connect it to your PC, connect it directly if it has a compatible connecting port, or use an authentic USB cable. Once connected, simply navigate to the folder or to the location where all your lost or deleted files were stored before getting deleted.

Step 2 Once you have the folder in front of you, Right Click on it. Now, look for a “Restore Previous Versions” option in the list menu that appears, click on the “Restore Previous Versions” option.

Step 3 Once you finish the 2nd step, you will see a popup window appearing in front of you, named “xxx properties”, you will see all the previous versions of your folder under the “Previous Versions” tab. Now, select the version of your folder that you want to restore, and click the “Restore” button at the bottom of the window.
